| I saw the 2nd preview and I thought that the ballet dancers complement George’s outburst of creativity. It was less choreography as in “stop here come the dancers to do their dance” vs. them moving around George as he sings as in an extension of his creativity or palette. This worked especially well in “Finishing the Hat.” I attended the Studio 54 revival and didn’t care for it. This revival gave me a newfound appreciation for this musical. I always learn new things when I revisit Sondheim shows and I am very happy I invested my time to experience this. I will happily attend future Eamon Foley-directed shows. |
