| Although I agree in principal with your assertion that a "show is the book and score," when the original production is also directed by the book (or score) writer, I think it arguably is more valid than if a director by hire is used, or directors of later productions. Not better or worse, necessarily, but the insight and intentionality seems more valuable. |
