Has there been any production anywhere of the WIZ that was comparable to the first?
The book is so weak, but the songs and singers are usually amazing. That said, I have yet to see a production that expressed the joy of the first version (which I saw on tour and jumpstarted my love of all things Bway.) For some odd reason, the productions since keep emphasizing the dark, sinister aspects of the story.
