| I'm sure there are things they have to say about justifying it or making a point with how young and gorgeous she actually is compared to the world she's either created for herself in her mind and/or the way the world sees her... i'm guessing. But let's be very real her. A 45 year old in 2024 looks absolutely nothing like a 45 year old in 1950, let alone a 50 year... let alone 45 year old Nicole Scherzinger in 2024 vs a 50 year old Gloria Swanson in 1950. Nicole is the youngest and stunningly beautiful woman to play Norma in a major production of this show, period, and they only i'm aware of that seems intentionally sexually appealing (which isn't to say the other amazing beautiful actresses who've played her weren't in real life, but they were not portrayed or dressed that way, like in this revival). And especially stripping her down to a silky black dress, not made up in weird make-up or draped in clothing like a queen in her own tomb... Scherzinger is very deliberately not the vision of Norma we've ever had, very much including in the movie. FWIW Patti was also 45 if my math is right. Glenn was 47 (and then again at 70). Betty is the same age as Glenn. Elaine Paige is a year older. |
