I think you don't make a distinction between what you like and what is good. I loved the TV show Dallas. That doesn't mean it was good. It was absolutely, in fact, not good. But entertaining as hell and I was addicted to it.
To me, Back to the Future, like Mean Girls before it, doesn't do anything that the movie didn't do better. The songs don't enhance the material (whereas in, for example, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, they absolutely do). So the fact that I can get the same joy out of the movie, at home, for $1.99, (and Michael J. Fox to boot!) makes the musical-- not great. |
