It may have been a failure but you really have no credibility judging the merits of the Broadway production which you admittedly did not see.
Yes, it bombed/lost money/whatever but that doesn't mean it was a terrible production. Some of us much preferred the enhanced Broadway staging and loved the exceptional cast which were just as good as that at The Public.
Had it opened this spring, it would likely have had an entirely different outcome.
