That seems very surprisingly low given the size and prestige of it. I mean that is what it was listed for, I just figured it would have been higher.

Also I'm surely not supposed to have any thought about this at all, but I find it sad that his partner is selling BOTH of the homes Sondheim (and him) lived in. And so quickly. I can't imagine needing the money is the reason, so I'm curious. But the idea that he has a very much alive partner, and both the places Sondheim wrote almost everything he wrote are going to be unloaded and re-done and lived in by other people SO quickly after his death seems just sort of strange for someone so revered and beloved.

Why wasn't one of them used to make a Sondheim museum? His country house could have been used as a writers retreat program location, he was such an active advocate of new writers.
