We have had conversations here about the critical importance of building (especially) Broadway audiences that are more diverse (generationally, ethnically, racially, etc) if we want Broadway to realize its potential going forward. We have seen one terrific show after another fail because no one was nurturing audiences for those shows. In fact, Broadway has always been exclusionary rather than inclusive and as that has changed on the supply side, the demand side has been mostly ignored. What you and others are noticing is an early stage of the process of fixing that.
There is a lot more to this but for now that's the gist of it. |
