Yeah, I was limiting my theory to the last two decades when bio and narrative jukebox musicals became de rigueur. The hit to miss ratio seems slightly stronger than the general pool of musicals, and when they really hit they have solid staying power too.
Other successes besides the ones mentioned include Movin' Out, Rock of Ages, Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill, Moulin Rouge!, it seems likely that & Juliet will join the list. |
