| This has been discussed before, but “Crazy for You” is not actually a revival of “Girl Crazy”. Ludwig was contracted to revise it, but then chucked out everything but the basic premise and a few of the songs, some of which he kept because they had lyrics that referenced the location. If you can find a version of the original stage “Girl Crazy” - and there is an excellent 1-hour radio version you can find on YouTube - you’ll see that 95% of the plot and characters (and jokes!) are Ken Ludwig. |
