I think it depends on exactly how you define the term "jukebox" musical. Before Mamma Mia (in 2001), it was pretty rare for a new musical without an original score to recoup its investment -- that is, unless you want to put shows like Fosse (a one off IMO) and Crazy for You -- which is essentially a revisal of Girl Crazy -- into that category.

Successful bio-musicals were pretty rare until The Boy from Oz came along in 2003. It was a small hit on Broadway, mainly because of Jackman. However, Jersey Boys was a phenomenal success in 2005 -- it had a great book, told a very interesting story, and John Lloyd Young was superb as Valli. Beautiful in 2014 was just as good, and those two shows remain the gold standard, IMO anyway.

My partner and I saw A Wonderful World because one of us won the lottery. Iglehart's performance and the music made the show worth seeing. If they can transform the book, give it more depth, and make it more interesting, it has the potential to be a very fine bio-musical. A hit on Broadway? Who knows?
