I don't disagree with that (your last sentence). I would suggest however that Aaron/Sutton were always going to sell well to "those people..." but (unlike Groban) not selling out. In that situation, the important question (for the production) is: can Joe sell more (additional) tickets than an analog of Aaron/Sutton. To me, that's the appropriate analysis, and I think the answer is yes. We don't really need to resolve the imaginary questions that are floating around. I hope my point makes sense to you.
