Has anyone been to a broadway show where the playbills ran out?

I’ve gotten the nasty look for asking for a second playbill so I usually scout around at intermission or pick up extra at end of show. I like one front page for my cork board at home to enjoy for a few months until replaced by newer show. If the tour comes to sf, I usually hang it again. And I have a friend who loves theater but rarely goes because his husband doesn’t allow it—so I get him one.

I think only once or twice when a show was closing in a matter of days was I truly limited to one playbill—in 40 years of attending broadway shows. Have others really not gotten one because someone took too many?

And so what if they are sold on eBay. Frankly, playbill should just do that routinely. Maybe five current shows for $10 to undercut those selling not from the source. I think playbill only sells opening night programs with sticker for way too much money. I assume boxes of them are recycled every month from shows so why bother policing.
