| OK, this is perhaps a bit self-serving but on the night of the big blackout in August 2003, some friends in my building invited me over. They had some other guests. By candlelight, we played a game they had called Humm...ble. You did divide into teams. One by one, each player gets a card with the name of a famous song on it. The player with the card has to hum the song, and whoever guesses the name of the song first gets points for their team. A surprisingly high percentage of the song titles were from the Great American Songbook, which I don't know as well as many other people. And I don't have a great sense of pitch. Nonetheless, the team I was on was killing the other team, leading someone on the other team to exclaim, "It's not fair. You've got Alan on your team." I kept getting the titles within a few notes. |
