Well it's because the show is being presented by qualified people and we may wish to know a little bit about them. Why would a show list abio of Josh Groban or Bette Midler or Daniel Radcliffe when likely the audience already knows quite a bit about them? But we might wish to be a bit more curious over who made the set for the new production of Sweeney Todd. who made those outfits Midler is wearing and who keeps Merrily We Roll Along running so smoothly? By the way, don't forget they are often included in the ads and appear on the title page in the program. Their work isoften discussed here and on other theater boards and they frequently have as much to do with the artistic success of a show as those performers one sees on stage.
