You're right that this may be the last time to see "a full-scale Broadway revival" of "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street."
But as many operagoers know, "Sweeney Tood" has already gained a foothold in the worldwide operatic repertoire complete with Jonathan Tunick's original orchestrations intact, or even expanded, too.
It started as early as 1984 when Houston Grand Opera and New York City Opera co-produced director Harold Prince's opera house production based upon his 1979 Broadway original. The Lyric Opera of Chicago and the Royal Opera House in London co-produced a "Sweeney" by Australian director Neil Armfield starting in 2002. "Sweeney Todd" has also played at the Sydney Opera House, the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris and in German translation at the Vienna Volksoper and at regional opera houses throughout Germany.
