Rather than putting stickers on the phones, I would have preferred putting them in sealed bags as they did at Take Me Out. Or, as I believe, in Tel Aviv and Tokyo they have technology to block the phones altogether. I, personally, hate phones in theatres and think they should be banned. As for the show: I saw it in London and have to say I have never been as moved or frightened by Cabaret as I was in this production. Yes, some of it is over the top, but Rebecca Frecknall's reconceiving of the Emcee is stunning and brilliant and scary as hell. The Hal Prince production was a masterpiece. In its time it was a cautionary tale recalling what happened and to beware it could happen again. This production makes it clear that it is happening again, and that is what makes it so powerful.
