The Grand Tour is a musical based on the Broadway play Jacobowsky and the Colonel, which was made into the 1958 film Me and the Colonel. I've never seen the play but I know the film pretty well. The Germans have invaded France and the Jewish refugee Jacobowsky and a Polish colonel team up reluctantly to obtain a car and try to get to the northern coast where a submarine will take them to England. Marianne is the colonel's girlfriend. On their way to the coast Marianne begins to fall in love with the colonel. That's the film version anyway.

I love the Broadway cast recording of The Grand Tour, which has a very underrated Herman score, especially the song "Marianne". Jason Graae has performed it on a TV special and includes it in his cabaret act.
