| I could be wrong, but my recollection from the time was that Harold Prince purposely kept Joel Grey under the title to assure him a Best Featured Actor Tony (he might have had a tougher time against Alan Alda, Norman Wisdom, Jack Gilford and Robert Preston (who won) in the Best Actor category. Grey was elevated over the title the week after he won the Tony. |
