| While reading about Sara and Sarah’s The Interestings musical adaptation, I got to wondering…what are some of the major/notable musicals over the years that have been created from scratch without the benefit or inspiration of source material—be that a book, film, poem, historical figure, etc.? After googling a handful, it seems as if so many were, if only loosely. And no shade toward “based on” works on my end! I’m grateful for all (okay, most) of them…just curious. |
