I have no idea how accurate this source is, however, I found a very lengthy article on Jolson's career by author Bill Edwards who states (referring to Jolson):
"Broadway dimmed their lights in his honor, not something done all that often back then."
I found the article by googling Broadway Lights Dimmed for Eubie Blake Passing. So, who knows? |
