| I first encountered the show in a high school production and think it makes the most sense at that level. It's certainly not as "sophisticated" as Bway-fare usually is. Maybe could work in a Off-Bway sized theatre. It really does need a zany leading lady--and I don't even think Foster was zany enough. Check out some clips of Carol Burnett singing the role on YouTube. She hits the bullseye. Maybe a younger Kristin Chenoweth could have done it effectively. | |
