| Mrs. Lovett has more songs. I wonder about the stage time. I just read Angela Lansbury's authorized memoir. She was assured she'd get the final bow and be the "comic engine" of the show before she agreed to do it. She said growing up in England Sweeney Todd was a very familiar tale and didn't want her audience disappointed by coming to see her in a supporting role especially when her name would be selling the show. (she figured Sweeney would be the main character.) |
